WeatherTracker v1.6.4b6 - Beta Available

Postby AfterTen » Mon Sep 14, 2015 10:47 pm

This update hopefully fixes the Sunrise and Sunset issues for Davis Stations.
Users who are experiencing incorrect Sunrise and Sunset times should go to the station's set up screen and update latitude, longitude and timezone settings.

Probably some other fix I just forgot to write them down, oops.

Just some feedback on the graph presentation since I started testing this new beta this evening. I'd quite like to be able to customise particularly the drawing of the temperature graph - either as an option, or as an outright change to the interface (as I think it would be better for everyone, not just for me).

1) At the moment, it appears to draw the line as a blocky, double-width (or more? Not sure how many pixels involved) line which looks both imprecise and poorly rendered. Would it be possible to change this to a smoothed line (i.e. just smoothed between adjacent data points of different values), and one that is thinner?

Here's one rendered by a PHP graph script I use:
tempgraph.tiff
tempgraph.tiff (80.59 KiB) Viewed 28858 times

And here's the one that WT currently produces (similar graphs in the on screen display and for web output)
temp.jpg.png
temp.jpg.png (8.08 KiB) Viewed 28858 times

2) The scale appears to be forced to include the next multiple of 20 degrees C, which is a very large band for such a short vertical axis. Today (which was quite a pleasant, temperate day) gives me a temp/dewpoint graph ranging from -20 to +40 C... with the result that both lines are nearly flat. I would be much happier using multiples of 5 degrees C (which might then display today on an axis of -5 to +25 - twice the vertical resolution of the graph I got), so that one can actually see the temperature contour of the day.

It looks like the output of this GitHub project could do the job extremely well - note the Curved Scatter Plot in the examples.

Thanks for the feedback.
Internally I use ChartDirector to produce the graphs.

I have plans to allow full customization for graphs in the near future.

As far as your specific example I'll have to look into why you are getting such a wide range on such a narrow range of temperature.

Dean, I am sorry that it took so long to get back to you on the latest update!

This update DID correct my Sunrise/Sunset problem.

Thank you, very much, for this latest update! Very happy with "WeatherTracker!"
